The Department of Peace & Conflict Studies is part of the Faculty of Contemporary Studies at the National Defence University (NDU). The Department has recently initiated a programme on Peace & Conflict Studies, offering MSc and MPhil degrees.

The programme is developing its roots at the NDU, which has been training, mainly military officers, in the areas of defence, security and war studies. The programme on Peace & Conflict Studies is crucial considering the fact that Pakistan is one of the top contributors to the UN Peacebuilding Force.

The NDU is a prestigious university, and the President of Pakistan serves as the chancellor of the NDU, whilst the current leader is a three-star general from the Pakistan Army. However, the department has civilian faculty members trained in the area of Peace & Conflict Studies with postgraduate degrees from academic institutions in the UK and Japan.
