The Women for Peace organisation was founded in February 2007 in Leskovac and was officially registered as a Citizen’s Association in April 2007.

To promote, educate and protect women’s human rights, as well as work on peacebuilding and non-violence initiatives.
Project Example
In the period between 2008-2010, Kvinna Till Kvinna supported the 'Stop Violence against Women' programme through a number of initiatives. The first of these initiatives involved a helpline dedicated to female victims of domestic violence. The programme was supported by expert consultants in the field of law, health and psychotherapy. Throughout the period of the programme, a database of all client contact was kept. In total, 1,390 women called or visited us, whilst the number of consultations amounted to 2,708. Furthermore, 17 panel discussions were held regarding the Jablanica district, which involved the participation of 210 professionals from the police, the Center for Social Welfare and the health services.
The second initiative consisted of an educational programme for educators and experts from eight secondary schools. The aim of these activities were to exchange information and experiences, encourage the timely and adequate response to violent situations and recognise the importance of the correlation between peer and family violence. In total, 227 participants took part.
The final third initiative of the programme was aimed at establishing inter-institutional cooperation with relevant institutions to support victims of domestic violence.
Further information
Our activities work on changing the awareness of democratisation within society through dealing with the recent past, but also through standing up to increasingly cleric-fascist and fundamentalist trends in our society. In the year 2010, experts from our organisation conducted research regarding the quality of life of women who emigrated in EU countries searching for a job. This research was part of a project implemented by Women in Black from Belgrade. During this year, we also carried out a networking project 'Women’s Solidarity and Responsibility for Punishment of War Crimes', which was employed in several towns in Serbia (Leskovac, Vlasotince, Dimitrovgrad, Nis, Novi Sad, krusevac, Novi Becej). One aspect of this project involved showing a documentary film entitled 'Women of Srebrenica Talk', that was produced by Women in Black.
