Association ATINATI works to promote the establishment of an educated, tolerant and free society in Georgia. It was established in 1995, as the first non-governmental organisation to be established in Zugdidi. It continues to function successfully up to the present. In the course of its existence, ATINATI has implemented more than 100 projects and garnered the trust of the local community.

ATINATI implements projects aiming at strengthening citizen competence, protecting their rights, and enhancing their opportunities. The organisation supports the development of civil society in West Georgia, and raises the informational awareness of its citizens.

The organisation focuses especially on vulnerable groups such as IDPs. At present ATINATI is implementing activities in the following subject areas:

  • Development of civil society: In this direction, together with different donors, ATINATI implements programmes of non-formal education for young people, children and teachers. It establishes youth clubs in public schools, supports the enrolment and qualification of teachers, and works with parents. ATINATI is involved in the EU-funded programme 'ERASMUS +' and implements youth exchange programmes. ATINATI is also actively involved in voluntary and community service work. The organisation works with women and helps them to strengthen and develop their leadership and entrepreneurial skills. ATINATI creates opportunities for cooperation of the government, non-governmental and business sectors in order to support citizens' involvement in decision-making processes. ATINATI also provides a consulting service to NGOs and supports their development by providing information and trainings.
  • Helping socially vulnerable people: In this field, the beneficiaries of ATINATI's works are victims of violence (mainly women and children), and migrants. ATINATI provides victims of violence with psychological and legal consultation and medical help. The organisation also works with perpetrators of violence, to spread information and work on prevention. ATINATI works in the area of protecting Georgian Migrants' Rights, and it promotes the establishment of well-governed, legal migration abroad.
  • Raise informational awareness of society: ATINATI has its own means of media - Radio ATINATI (FM 105.9) broadcasts in west Georgia, including Abkhazia. The radio broadcasts news and objective information. Its mission is to contribute to trust-building between Abkhaz and Georgian societies. For this, ATINATI implements special projects together with Abkhaz colleagues.  Radio is essential for the promotion of the organisation and successful implementation of its strategic directions. The radio broadcasts 24 hours per day. Listeners receive information about current issues in the region and the whole country.
