The Seeds for Peace programme for South Asia was initiated in collaboration with the US State Department in 2001. The programme involved Indians and Pakistanis from two major cities, Mumbai and Lahore. In 2002, the programme expanded to also include participants from Afghanistan. Seeds of Peace endeavours to choose participants from diverse economic and religious backgrounds.

The South Asia programme has the following components:

  1. India/Pakistan/Afghanistan Homestay Program: which enables the participants to visit the homes of Seeds for Peace friends from countries other than their own. Also workshops and trainings are held for the participants of Homestays;
  2. Sulha Aman Shanti Newsletter: has been produced twice a year since 2004 and is comprised of essays, book reviews, op-eds, political discussions, poems and stories on relevant issues.
