The Universal Intervention and Development Organisation (UNIDO) was established in Unity, South Sudan in 2004 and expanded its operations to Kenya in 2016. The organisation is based on Christian values and aims to bring about positive change that is accepted and sustained by the communities its working in.

UNIDO is a humanitarian partner organisation with the aim of enabling communities to become self-reliant by implementing projects in several sectors such as health, nutrition, education, water and sanitation, food security, livelihoods, peace building and conflict mitigation.

UNIDO activities include:

  • Mitigating conflicts: For instance, UNIDO mitigated a cross border conflict between Unity and Lakes state by organising a cross border conference.
  • Promoting peaceful co-existence: UNIDO formed peace committees in counties in southern Unity (South Sudan) to promote peaceful coexistence.
  • Family tracing: UNIDO have been able to trace and reunify 120 children with their parents.
