Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) was established by a group of socially conscious youths in the Chittagong District of Bangladesh as a development organization in 1985.

With the vision of YPSA envisions a society without poverty where everyone’s basic needs and rights are ensured. Networking with other like-minded organization / forum / groups at local, national, and international levels is a core strategy of YPSA. YPSA is the active member of more than fifty networks, some of which YPSA also provides secretarial support to.

Aiming to “Stop Violence and Build a Peaceful Bangladesh”, YPSA arranged a round table discussion on November 2014 on YPSA-HRDC auditorium, Sitakunda, Chittagong, under the campaign called BD with me. This discussion saw 33 invited participants participating in it with various professions as teacher, businessman, social worker, student, government employee, service holder, UP member, housewife, unemployed and journalist etc. In this sessions, discussions covered the causes, effects and remedy measure of violence.

Under the core activities of human rights, YPSA take necessary steps to prevent violence committed by some opportunists, religious extremists and self-seeking people. Under these activities, YPSA regularly arrange peacebuilding youth dialogues and capacity building workshop.

Achievements so far:

  • On October 2, 2015 YPSA, Stop Violence Coalition (SVC) and ELMA jointly observed the International Day of Non-Violence. The day aimed to spread the message of non-violence, including through education and public awareness. The resolution reflected universal respect for Gandhi and his philosophy.
  • “Bangladesh stands with me: together, let us end violence and build a peace full nation” is a national campaign to raise awareness on the importance of social harmony with the slogan “Stop Violence, Build a Peaceful Nation”. The aim of the campaign was; before and after every national election even local government elections, various kinds of violence occur often that should never happen. To aware the people is main motto for mitigation the political violence.
  • Community radio talk show on “Stop Violence and Build a Peaceful Bangladesh” Radio talk show at Sagor Giri FM 99.2: Aiming for “Stop Violence and Build a Peaceful Bangladesh”, Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) arranged a radio talk show at 04 November, 2014 on Radio SagorGiri, Sitakunda, Chittagong, under the campaign on BD with me.
