The Association Tchadienne pour la Non Violence (Chadian Association for Non Violence, ATNV) is a peace and human rights promotion organisation which was founded in 1991, and recognised as an NGO in 2008.
As the Chadian branch of the International Fellowship of Reconciliation, the ATNV works with the West African Network for Peacebuilding and the Université de Paix en Afrique (Animation des Projets Transfert de compétences et Evaluation).
From 1997, the ATNV has run projects and activities financed by several donors including the EU, French Embassy, Menonite Centrale Comitee, ACCRAS, Pain Pour le Monde, GIZ, UNICEF and EIRENE.
These focus on peacebuilding activities in schools, gender issues, mediation in political and intercommunity conflicts, and on youth and citizenship projects.
Between 2002 and 2011, ATNV officially helped peacefully resolve 901 different disputes and conflict issues, through its 60 conflict management committees. Furthermore, the administrative and military authorities, who were initially reluctant to engage with the activities led by the regional structures of the ATNV, have begun to accept them and work with them in their advocacy.
