Brothers Keeper Siera Leone is a charitable and non-political service oriented community based organization, established on the 15 February 2015 on the basis of coordinating, promoting and supporting Youth through the provision of medical services and advocacy. The organization is register with the Ministry of Social Welfare Gender and Children Welfare and the Bo city council.
Brothers Keeper is conscious of the need to promote socialization predicted on the principle of freedom, equality, peace building, and social justice and to also prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices in their lives.
However, there has been series of youth violence in our communities and across the country ranging from political, cliques, gang violence and robbery that have resulted in the loss of lives and properties as a result of these alarming rates of youths’ violence, Brother’s Keeper have over the years created the platform through focus group discussions, dialogue forum, sports, stakeholder engagements where youths were able to interface with stakeholders/duties bearers. As a result of these engagements, Brother’s Keeper were able to identified that the high rate of unemployment and unskilled that lie within these group of people (youth) in the community make them idle and vulnerable, hence engage in drugs and crimes on the bases of survival by all means.
Moving further, Brother’s Keeper were able to enrol some of these youth in to formal education and technical institutions and other skills training through own source and other philanthropic support from community stakeholders.
