The Comité de Suivi de l’Appel à la Paix et à la Réconciliation (Committee for Peace and Reconciliation, CSAPR) is a civil society peacebuilding network in Chad. Founded in 2002, it brings together more than seventy development, human rights, trade union and young people's organisations in eighteen main locations, from where it coordinates local action.

The CSAPR's founding charter calls for all parties in Chad to work for lasting and meaningful peace in the country. It denounces the exercise of power through violence and calls for a national reconciliation process to bring conflict groups together and build for a peaceful future in Chad.

The CSAPR works in a wide range of areas, including:

  • Reinforcing political dialogue: promoting and encouraging political debate and discussion in public spaces, such as in Peace Cafes.
  • Supporting peace education and leadership development.
  • Working to restore trust and community relations in local communities.
  • Organising national youth conferences to bring together young people working for peaceful development in Chad.
  • Working to prevent and reduce the impact of armed violence in all its forms.
  • Supporting dialogue and negotiation training as key skills for conflict mediators.
A list of CSAPR publications is available here and here.
