Kids for Peace Liberia (KPFL) is a dedicated not-for-profit peacebuilding organisation that uses children and youth to promote peace and volunteerism. KPFL was founded in May 2013 and incorporated in January 2015. It is legally registered under the business law of Liberia and has operating offices in Monsterrado County. Its mission is to cultivate every the innate ability of young people to foster peace through cross-cultural experiences, hands-on arts, advocacy, environmental issues, volunteerism and Service for Peace Projects.
Once a small group of children, KFPL has grown to become a large peace group in Liberia with chapters in the US, China, Asia, Europe and other African countries. Kids for Peace Liberia subscribes to its global peace building mission.
Kids for Peace Liberia has implemented a wide range of national projects funded by its headquarters in California and mini resources collected from domestic fundraising programmes. With little over two years of formation, KPFL currently operates Peace Clubs in Bright Stone Academy and a Community Peace Forum in the Red Light community. Kids for Peace Liberia implemented an anti-Ebola community campaign in the mate estate community, distributed assorted food materials to disabled children and youth in the Brewervile and Old Road communities. As part of Kids for Peace Liberia's Community Builders Yearly Program (peacebuilding and leadership programme), KPLF jointly conducted two intensive peacebuilding, governance and leadership workshops with the Mano River Union Youth Parliament in the Lofa County with funding from Carter Center Liberia.
Kids for Peace Liberia has a very strong working partnership with the Mano River Union Youth Parliament Liberia Chapter, Carter Center Liberia, PAL, Whole Heart Liberia, Youth United for Sustainable Development, Child Care Foundation Liberia and Bright Stone Academy. There are more than one hundred beneficiaries from the Save the Future Project (education support for poor kids in the mate estate). More than 150 youth leaders benefited from our joint training with MRU Youth Parliament in Lofa County and more than ten kids are currently benefiting from our kids Peace Club Program in Red Light and Bright Stone Academy.
