Kumi Human Rights Initiative was established in 2000 with a mission to ensure, strengthen and promote the observance of human rights democracy, the rule of law and peaceful co-existence.
The organisation conducts human rights education and awareness, advocacy and campaigns on policy issues by holding dialogues and community meetings. The themes covered are democratisation, good governance and the rule of law, and are enhanced by carrying out civic education.

It also conducts capacity building in various aspects of programming as well as social and economic justice and access.
