Mission des Jeunes pour Christ Internationale Shalom is a religious-based organisation set up after a dialogue took place in Burundi. This was organised by the Mennonite Central Committee in April 2004 and discussed the issues of promoting lasting peace, love, unity and reconciliation in the present world and Rwanda, in the wake of the 1994 genocide which left people deeply scarred. The genocide also destroyed social relationships among the population, leaving many young people bitter aqnd traumatised.

Considering the risks threatening young people, it is hard to hope for a sound Church or country in the future if nothing is done. Mission des Jeunes aims to change this and provide hope.

Main achievements and activities

Mission des Jeunes so far has 468 beneficiaries of our peace building work, principally involving peace clubs. It works in partnership with the Mennonite Central Committee.
