The Sudanese Development Call Organisation (Nidaa) strives to empower Sudanese communities that are longing for desirable change through training, advocacy and sustainable community development. The organisation envisions rural people across Sudan who are inspired and empowered to lead the process of change and development.

Nidaa set up their main field office in Al Goz locality in South Kordofan. Al Goz was identified early in 2004 as an area affected by a range of conflicts, particularly pastoralist-farmer clashes and conflict between IDPs fleeing violence in adjacent areas and the area’s host communities.

Most other NGOs in the state choose the capital, Kadugli, as their base, however, Nidaa takes pride in basing themselves directly within the communities with whom they work. The organisation was the first to work specifically on peace in the area. In line with this focus, Nidaa has delivered many peacebuilding trainings, created a local network for conflict resolution, and worked to restore traditional conflict management practices between groups.

In 2012, the organisation took on an International Organization for Migration project, restocking goats and other small livestock in Al Goz. Nidaa also delivered water points and agricultural projects to improve crop gains in the area. As an area affected by IDP influxes, goats are a key commodity, food source and livelihood provider for both incoming and host communities. Through the project four goats were distributed per household, and Nidaa continues to monitor the beneficiaries through an ongoing follow-up program.

Nidaa take a multi-sectoral approach to peacebuilding in their focus areas by providing health and women’s services in conflict-affected areas of operation as well.
