Procurador de los Derechos Humanos (Lawyers for Human Rights) focuses on where human rights violations are happening and takes action against the violators. It has the authority to intervene in cases of grievance or complaints about violations of human rights. It also has a focus on education, teaching in schools and training organisations on individual and indigenous rights, domestic violence, corporal punishment, and prevention tactics.

Procurador de los Derechos Humanos participates in events and maintains communication with governmental, nongovernmental, national and international organisations that are responsible for defending and promoting human rights.

Its work for peace, justice and equality by meeting the stipulations outlined for Guatemala in the Constitution, Peace Accords and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
