YouthAid-Liberia (YAL) is a youth-led and voluntary non-governmental organization devoted to engaging, empowering, and innovating local youth across Liberia irrespective of educational, religious, political, cultural and economic statuses. Since 2012, YouthAid-Liberia has been working to support youth empowerment programs/projects in local communities across Montserrado and Bong Counties, including Civic & Voter Education, WASH Promotion, Peacebuilding and providing humanitarian relief supports to HIV/AIDS affected people, disaster affected youth and victims of SGVB through mentoring, counseling and leadership building initiatives.
Past Projects
The Community Action Against Polio (CAAP) Project, implemented from October 23-25, 2015 was a community driven-interactive and social mobilization campaign project conducted in communities along the Logan Town and Caldwell areas. The project was implemented through the services of 10 local CAAP volunteers and community mobilizers targeting 3000 baby mothers as direct beneficiaries and over 5,000 community inhabitants as indirect beneficiaries. The project was successfully implemented with funding and technical supports made available by the Liberia Immunization Platform (LIP), Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and GAVI Alliance.
CVE Awareness on the 2014 Voter Roll Updates (VRU): On January 29, 2014, YouthAid-Liberia signed a project agreement to implement a civic and voter education project in Bong County for the Special Senatorial Elections, funded by IFES Liberia via USAID, which directly benefited 13,000 people and 22,100 households/communities in project areas, rural communities in Bong County.
CVE Awareness on the 2014 Exhibition of Provision Voter Roll (PVR): In April 2014, YouthAid-Liberia also signed a grant agreement to conduct civic and voter education on the 2014 Exhibition of Provision Voter Roll in rural communities in Bong County which directly benefited 9,800 young people and 11,200 indirect beneficiaries (Funded by IFES Liberia).
Leadership & Peacebuilding Education Project: This project was implemented on March 3, 2014 in Montserrado County which directly benefited 55 young people and 79 indirect beneficiaries (sponsored by ADSF Foundation, Norway).
HIV/AIDs awareness for young people: In August 2013, YouthAid-Liberia implemented a national campaign on HIV/AIDS and other sexual reproductive programs for the Let’s Talk Sex Show on UNMIL Radio. This directly benefited over 20,000 young people through radio education (facilitated by PSI Liberia)
