The Centre for Humanitarian Affairs (CHA), formally the Consortium of Humanitarian Agencies founded in 1997, is a Sri Lankan non-profit organization that is a national service provider for Sri Lanka’s non-profit sector.

The mandate of CHA is “to secure dignity of life for all” and prioritize human security through the delivery of products and services to areas affected by disasters in Sri Lanka. CHA implements its mandate by directly assisting people in need through representation, advocacy, education, and empowerment of individuals, groups, and national and local stakeholders.

CHA hosts policy, advocacy, and research on human security and the environment by working with communities in need, NGOs, and CBOs. CHA has long-term experience in collaborating with government departments, ministries, Sri Lankan and foreign diplomatic missions, and civil society; a strong expertise in influencing policy making and strategies at the national level; decades of experience, both during and after Sri Lanka’s civil war, working with marginalized communities, including minorities, migrants, and women-headed households at the village, district, and national levels; and extensive experience with capacity building programs that aim to strengthen and empower communities and address their protection and development needs.

Recent research programs have included partnership with Harvard University (HHI) looking at women and displacement and Dhaka University looking at Political Manipulation of Extremist Messaging.
