Action des Chrétiens pour l’Abolition de la Torture section du Tchad (Action by Christians Against Torture Chad, ACAT) is an apolitical NGO which brings together Catholics and Protestants to fight against torture. It is not a Church, and is independent of Churches and the state. The term Christian applies to the values on which it bases its actions. ACAT is affiliated with the International Federation of ACAT.

The Chad branch of ACAT was founded in 1994. It has conducted many activities at both local and national level, ranging from awareness-raising and advocacy to training sessions and organising conferences and debates on peacebuilding and conflict issues. It also conducts prison visits, launches appeals and runs prayer days and reflection sessions.

ACAT's projects are fundamentally linked to building a more peaceful world. One of its key projects conducts research into children's issues in N'Djamena. It has led to a report entitled "A la Recherche d'un Horizon" (In Search of a Horizon), which helps children with socialisation and how to deal with conflicts and difficult situations.

Another project has recently been completed in Kelo, in Tandijlé East. Entitled "Women, Citizen Responsibility, Local Participative Governance and the Fight Against Torture". Its conflict transformation strategy works to ensure their participation in training and awareness raising sessions, which have led to the establishment of village neighbourhood watch and conflict management committees.
