Centre for the Defence of Human Rights and Democracy (CDHD) was established to promote universal values of human rights and to defend democratic principles in DR Congo.

CDHD has implemented a number of different different projects focused on the improvement of human rights and democracy in DR Congo. Projects include research on the state of democracy in the Congo since 2006 which reveals many challenges the country has been facing. CDHD believe there is a clear link between peace and democracy, and that there can be no peace without democracy. Therefore CDHD strives to promote good governance, rule of law and electoral transparency as its main programmes.
