Candlelight for Health, Education & Environment (CHEE) is dedicated to improving the quality of life of the Somaliland community through the provision of education, the promotion of basic health care, providing training environmental conservation and creating employment opportunities through viable income generating activities.

CHEE was founded in 1995 as a non-profit organisation dedicated to development issues in marginalised communities in Somaliland. The organisation's programmes cover all of Somaliland regions.

The organisation's programmes focus on four areas of work:

• Education. CHEE is involved in many aspects of education – including school building, vocational training, peace education and human rights awareness.
• Natural resource management.
• Humanitarian interventionsduring emergencies.
• Health.
