DW aims to establish good governance and uphold human rights in Bangladesh
Last updated: فبراير 2017

Democracywatch (DW) is a national level development organisation which aims to establish good governance and uphold human rights in Bangladesh. The organisation works to strengthen democratic institutions and the electoral process; build a nationwide network of civil society organisations; and sensitise stakeholders about democratic culture, social responsibilities, and the rule of law.

Since its inception, DW has brought citizen concerns to government, monitored policies and encouraged political participation at community level, and provided a wealth of training related to democracy, human rights and good governance.

DW promotes gender equity and gender issues in every sphere of society. The organisation has gained a reputation sensitising people, especially youth, on issues related to gender and governance. It formed a Gender Resource Centre that not only promotes gender issues but also tracks the state of violence against women, children, the poor and minority people. The Centre holds a "Gender Fair" every year where it arranges exhibitions, seminars, presents study reports on gender issues, and gives awards to women activists who have acted as role-models in the fields of women empowerment.
