The Fédération Burkinabé des Associations, Centres et Clubs UNESCO (FBACU, English: Burkinabe Federation of UNESCO Associations, Centres and Clubs) works to promote UNESCO's peace work in Burkina Faso by helping individuals to develop and find their place in the community. It promotes democratic and civic values, a culture of peace and international awareness through training activities, conferences, theatre and environmental programmes including reforestation.

Objectives:

• To contribute to the defence and promotion of human rights, good governance, democracy and a culture of peace.
• To promote eco-citizenship and sustainable human development.
• To assist with the creation and support of UNESCO associations, groups, centres and clubs in Burkina Faso.
• To contribute to social and educational projects within the schools and education system.
• To fight HIV/Aids, STIs and promote good reproductive health.

Main achievements

• The creation of 17 international reforestation and community action sites, in collaboration with the French and Belgian UNESCO clubs.
• The construction of the Koichi Ueda.
• The organisation of the first international reforestation programme, in Ziniaré in 1987.
• Holding the first conference on human rights in Burkina Faso, in 1990.
• Being awarded the "Messenger for Peace" prize by the UN in 1988.
• Successful supervising elections.
• Creating programmes raising awareness of issues relating to and helping to prevent violence.
