Gori Information Centre (GIC) is an NGO founded in Gori (Shida Kartli) in 1997. It aims to support the development of democratic institutions and to stimulate civil participation in decision-making processes.

The goals of the organization are to support the development of democratic institutions, non-governmental sector and self- government and contribute to establishing interagency partnership between various stakeholders. The major focus of Gori Information Centre for the last decade has been to stimulate the participation of local communities (especially rural) in decision making processes.

As one of the most experienced and trusted NGOs in Shida Kartli, Gori Information Centre has been active since the day it was founded. The organization has implemented numerous projects with the financial support of such donors as International Foundation for Electoral Systems, Eurasia Foundation, Urban Institute. Gori Information Centre has enjoyed successful partnership with the Caucasus Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development, Civil Society Institute, Democratic Development Institute etc.

Gori Information Centre has been working closely with Saferworld since 2009 to improve security and help communities identify, analyse and communicate their concerns to authorities. Together they are currently working on a programme “Community-based approaches to security in conflict-prone areas of the Caucasus”, funded by the UK Conflict Pool. GIC provides the primary point of contact for the Community Reference Group in Shida Kartli.
