Initiatives Communautaires pour la Réduction de la Pauvreté (ICRP) is a Burundian grassroots organisation promoting peace and reconciliation between Hutus and Tutsis, returnees and internally displaced persons, human rights, community development and environmental protection. The approaches of non-violence, gender balance, and transparency guide ICRP’s community interventions.

Guided by Kirundi proverb: "When you spend a night with hunger in the belly, you wake up in the morning with jealousy" , ICRP works to build peaceful coexistence within rural communities, regardless of ethnicity, gender, religion, or origin by promoting community development and bonding.

The funding received from UK groups have enabled ICRP to implement farming and livestock projects as entry points to achieve grassroots reconciliation between formerly separated families.

In addition, ICRP has provided training in leadership and business skills to help beneficiaries better manage the project. Currently, six ICRP groups hold monthly peace and solidarity meetings in the communes of Ruhororo, Mbuye and Mutaho.
