The Dhaka-based Institute of Conflict, Law and Development Studies was founded in 2014. It acts a platform to discuss and study peace and security issues in Bangladesh.

In particular, it aims to improve the connections between policymakers and community members in order to ensure that laws work to protect the population's rights. It works with subject experts, lawmakers and citizen representatives, helping law enforcers, policy makers, the media and researchers to identify obstacles to durable peace in Bangladesh.
The organisation conducts studies to support the development of peacebuilding programmes. Currently, they are collaborating in a number of projects such as supporting bilateral dialogue with Bangladesh and it neighbours, a "Conflict and Terror Portal", and a project on the "culture of lawfulness".

Roundtable Talk on 'Foreign Patrons Behind Radicalization in Bangladesh' was chaired by ICLDS Chairman Ambassador Muhammad Zamir
Institute of Conflict, Law & Development Studies (ICLDS) hosted a round-table talk on 'Foreign Patrons Behind Radicalization in Bangladesh' on February 27, 2016. Renowned security analysts, journalist, lawmakers, lawyers, writers, cultural activists, religious leaders attended the talk and delivered their valuable comments and thoughts.
The session was chaired by ICLDS Chairman Muhammad Zamir, former Ambassador and former Chief Information Commissioner. In the welcome speech he thanked everyone to attend the discussion and explained the background and necessity of the discussion. Executive Director Maj. Gen. Md Abdur Rashid (Retd) presented the Concept Paper. The session was moderated by Mithila Farzana. Maj. Gen. Md Abdur Rashid stressed that radicalization in Bangladesh was initiated with the process of 'Pakistanization' after the brutal assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1975. He said that various groups from inside the country and abroad are active to radicalized the youth of Bangladesh and turn them into bloodthirsty terrorists.
Discussants emphasized on the political unification and will to fight terrorism and radicalization. Role of Pakistan and some Middle Eastern countries in patronizing terrorist outfits in Bangladesh was discussed by the speakers.
Dialogue On 'Building Sustained Cooperation Between Bangladesh & European Union
Institute of Conflict, Law & Development Studies hosted a dialogue on 'Building Sustained Cooperation Between Bangladesh & European Union' on April 16, 2016 at 11 am at ICLDS Conference Hall. Mr. Pierre Mayaudon, Ambassador and the head of Delegation, Delegation of European Union to Bangladesh graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
The dialogue was chaired by Ambassador Muhammad Zamir, Chairman, ICLDS. Maj. Gen. (Retd) Md Abdur Rashid gave a short introduction to ICLDS and the background of the dialogue. Renowned academics, lawmakers and researchers of Bangladesh were present as discussant.
The session was very lively as both sides presented their views on different dimensions of Bangladesh-EU relation. They discussed about the prospects of cooperation in Investment, trade and commerce, gender equality and women empowerment and other sectors.
