Last updated: أكتوبر 2012

Kow Media Foundation (KMF) uses the media to promote peace and dialogue among communities using different tools, including the Somali Peace Caravan (Geediga Nabada) which uses poetry, art and culture to communicate messages that are intended to restore peace and build bridges through community reconciliation.

KMF was established in 2009 as an organisation that uses film-making and other media to pursue the fields of civic education, mobilization, and public awareness. KMF believes that creative and innovative use of media, theatre and film is likely to be more effective than more traditional public awareness campaigns.

Because it is a true grassroots Somali organisation, KMC prides itself in understanding the local mindset, what its driving forces are, how they can be reached and what the most effective approach is to reach out to Somali people. KMC believes in listening to communities and their true needs instead of importing ideas into their communities that may not work. KMC is now recognised as a leader in delivering community reconciliation campaigns in Somalia.
