Last updated: يونيو 2018

Established in 2011, Organizing for Zimbabwe (O4Z) Trust is a youth led civic organization working as a capacity development forum for community organizations and activists. O4Z prioritises issue-specific movement building, mobilizing and organizing citizens for informed and active participation in community and national development processes.

Their vision is a democratic Zimbabwe in which citizens actively participate and influence community and national development processes. Their mission is to mobilize, organize and develop the capacity of community organisations and activists towards their informed and active participation in the civic developmental processes.

Their values include accountability, transparency, integrity, inclusivity, gender sensitivity, solidarity and equality. The rationale behind ‘Organizing for Zimbabwe’ is centred on addressing the high levels of apathy that is notable among the general citizenry, especially young people towards issues of their civic responsibilities, participation and governance. Over the years since its establishment, the organization has been encouraging youth across the political divide in the community of Chitungwiza to take part in council affairs, question service delivery and take part in the voting process. As a result, there has been active youth participation in council affairs in Chitungwiza. As the country moves towards the 2018 elections, O4Z is carrying out voter awareness campaigns in Chitungwiza. These include encouraging voter registration and giving advice on how one is eligible to vote. The organization has also applied for Voter Observation status to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, in order to ensure free and fair elections.
