Projects

Mobile youth for peace

Funded by UNOPS, this project involved young people from different provinces of Iraq forming different ethnic and religion groups. The core of the program was exchange visits to four provinces for young people to learn more about the others, introducing their culture and norms in each province and then strengthening youth networks within those provinces.

Re-building Iraq through peace

The core of this 2010 UNOPS project was to use sport in order spread a culture of peace among young people. A group of young people involved in this project began organising several other sporting activities in both provinces in public areas.

Youth umbrella for peace and investment in Anbar

This project, funded by the Anbar Governorate in 2012, engaged young people in social and infrastructure development through exchange visits to several provinces. The young people become aware of the social situation in their province and this led to a strengthening of social cohesion among youth in their communities.

Enhancing minority rights in Iraq

This project, funded by the UNDP, developed a draft law on minorities, using a special curriculum developed by a group of civil society organisations, to be taught in seven Iraqi universities. Round table discussions are planned for university professors, students and civil society organisations representatives, to prepare the first minorities law draft and to be submitted to parliament.
