Shrooq is promoting the development of a peaceful society in Sudan.

Founded in June 2007, Shrooq is working to combat racism, promote democracy, women and children rights and peaceful coexistence in Sudan. 

Activities and Programs

Organising workshops and training: Shrooq holds workshops for youth, women and civic activists on digital media, human rights, project management, and other skills. The program aims to improve capacity and skills of participants to contribute to peacebuilding efforts actively. 

Public conferences and awareness raising events: Based on issues of public concern in Eastern Sudan, the organisation implements public meetings involving experts for advocacy. For example, issues of detention of activists, land disputes, coexistence, environment, public health, etc.

Poetry and music events: The poetry and music entertainment programs aim to promote peace, nation building and awareness on public rights.  

Magazine: Lafta is an arts and culture magazine that focuses on different cultural issues ranging from poetry, music, short stories to cultural diversity and inclusion. 

Movies and documentaries show sessions: Shrooq organises movies and documentaries shows to the youth. The shows use selected documentaries on issues of peaceful struggle, stories of success, conflicts, and reconciliations, etc. the shows are always followed by a discussion led by an invited expert on the issue addressed in the movie and generates discussion among the participants to help awareness raising.
