Sundar Nepal Sanstha (Beautiful Nepal Association-BNA), established in 1996, by a group of energetic youth volunteers in Surkhet district with the aim to enhance the living condition of the poor, deprived and marginalized people through delivery of quality services.
It has sound administrative and financial system, computerized accounting system, own building with 24 hours electricity and internet. It has a number of bylaws, policies and guidelines for the operation of the organization and activities.
BNA has carved its name and made significant achievements both on organizational development and program implementation on local governance; health, sanitation and hygiene; climate change adaptation; promotion of renewable energy & biomass energy; advocating gender equity and social inclusion; adopting sustainable agriculture & livestock management and promotion of community forest-based enterprises. The vision of the organization is - developmental work in communities for the creation of a beautiful, ideal and well-established society. It has a good track record of working in 17 districts of Mid and Far-West region.
Working with Children in Armed Conflict

In partnership with UNICEF, the organisation has has been working with “Children Associated with Armed Forces and Armed Groups" (CAAFAG) and “Verified Minors and Late Recruited” (VMLR), from 2009. The project has been implemented in 16 districts through different partner NGOs. The main goal of the project is reintegrating and rehabilitating children and youth who were involved in armed activities during the conflict. The main objective was to contribute to the peace process by promoting the rights of children and youth. BNA has also mobilised youth clubs and supported schools and local government and non government stakeholders, and engaged them in community development initiatives.
Activities on Reintegration of Conflict Affected Children in Nepal
- CAAFAG/CAAC and VMLRs, ex-combatants reintegrated back into their communities. Most of them have completed their school education.
- Contributing in peacebuilding activities and involved in the income generating activities.
- Psychosocial problems are reduced through health support, income generation support and counselling .
- Gender/caste and family discrimination reduced.
- Linking with government agencies to provide more extensive care
- Team building, leadership and communication skills.
Our Projects on Disaster, Climate Change, Livlihood, Governance, Drinking Wather Health and Sanitation
Nepal is vulnerable to earthquake, landsslides, floods, fires and other natural calamities. It has initiated for the different project on disister risk reduction, climate adaptation and support for people are at risk. We have different Projects that could support poor, deprived and vulnerable people.
- A. Sajhedari BikaasPartnership for Local Development Project: The partnership with Pact Nepal / USAID began on 2015 for the Phase 2 project implementation. The main goal of the project is to increase motivation of communities through active participation, governance and GESI in the implementation of developmental projects with local bodies. BNA cover 5 Village Development Committees (VDCs) in Surkhet.
- B. Promoting Agriculture, Health andAlternative Livelihoods (PAHAL): The PAHAL Program is a five-year program that commenced on November 2014 funded by USAID-FFP. It seeks to strengthen livelihoods, improve nutritional status and increase the capacity of vulnerable households to mitigate, adapt to and recover from shocks and stresses in communities with deep poverty and high rates of malnutrition in critical zones of the Mid-Western Surkhet. The target are 12 VDCs of Surkhet.
- C. BRACED (Building Resilient and Adaptation to Climate Extremes and Disasters) Project -Anukulan: The goal of the project is to build the resilience of poor and vulnerable people, especially women and children to climate change impacts, landslides and drought. The program started on August 2015 until December 2017 and is funded by DFID/UKAid.
The project covers 2 Municipalities namely Bheriganga and Shubaghat and 12 VDCs in Surkhet district. - D. Strengthening Small Holder Enterprise: The overall goal of the project is to improve the livelihood of smallholder rural families through agri-livestock based on value chain enterprise development approach. Targeting 1,700 households in Kunathari VDC, Surkhet. The project is supported by Heifer International Nepal. The project has provided the support on goat sheds, cattle sheds, vegetable seeds, crop seeds, improved cook stoves, local poultry, fodder/forage, agriculture equipment , conduct vaccines.
- E. Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene for All (SSH4A): The SSH4A project, 4-year project (September 2014 until August 2018), is being funded by SNV-Nepal. The over-all goal isto provide the community with access to sanitation and hygiene. The project covers 13 VDCs in Surkhet district. The project has delivered tangible outcome: 1) establishment of hygiene use of toilet and hand wash with shop as well as total sanitation; 2) installation of toilets; 3) campaign on sanitation and hygiene through mass media and drama; 4) support to stakeholder on governance; 5) support to school clubs and various community based groups
- F. Expanding Nepalese and Bhutanese Access to Indian Technologies for Agriculture (ENBAITA) Prgramme: ENBAITA program is supported by USAID and India partnership. The project focuses on sharing of Indian experiences in improving agriculture, food and nutritional security through sustained application of innovations and best practices. The objective is to build and strengthen private sector supply chains Improved goat shed Demo on hand washing Commercial vegetable production for climate smart technologies and other agriculture input and sustainably increase agriculture incomes of the farmers. The working area is 8 VDCs of Surkhet district.
- G. Agriculture and Food Security Project (AFSP): The programme is being funded by FAO-UN to support the Agriculture and Food Security Project (AFSP) of Nepal Government. The program aims to address the problem on food security due to poor agricultural growth & production, decline on national agricultural and livestock priority, and global climate change. The project covers 10 VDCs in Surkhet district.
- H. Solar Multiple Use Water Systems for Sustainable Livelihood Project (Solar MUS II)
The project aims to create income and livelihood opportunities for rural household through solarpoweredsystem that will provide suf cient water for domestic use and agricultural purposes. Combined with other appropriate services such as capacity building, market linkages and agricultural trainings. - I. Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Program
The program promotes demand-driven community based approach in water supply and sanitation sector in Surkhet by mobilizing non-governmental and private sector organizations in assisting communities to implement water supply and sanitation schemes. Project areas are 5 VDCs in Surkhet district. - J. Promotion of Forest-Based Enterprises Programme
This programme under Multi-Stakeholder Forestry Program (MSFP), funded by the government of Finland, Switzerland and UK, is implemented by BNA in partnership with HBTL in Surkhet and Jumla districts. The project assisted 30 CFUGs in Surkhet and 20 CFUGs in Jumla. The project has delivered the following: 1) establishment of 7 new enterprises (i.e. Dhatelo oil, Essential oil, densied Bio-briquette, and NTFP storage and trading); 2) strengthening of 5 existing enterprises (i.e. chiuri butter, medicinal herbal tea, essential oil); 3) strengthening 50 LFGs governance; 4) 3,000 employment generated through income generating activities. - K. Poverty Alleviation Program
The objective of the project is to improve the living condition through livelihood and empowerment of the rural poor, with particular attention to groups that have been traditionally excluded by reasons of gender, ethnicity, caste and location. The program has focused on income generation and infrastructure activities. The target areas are 6 VDCs of Surkhet.
