Last updated: February 2010

Search for Common Ground (SFCG) is an international conflict resolution NGO with 17 different field programmes. SFCG works with local partners in each of their programmes to help resolve conflicts and bring groups together. Their slogan is 'Understanding Differences. Acting on Commonalities'.

SFCG's Burundi programme has run since 1995. The purpose of the programme is to strengthen the capacity of groups in Burundi to manage their conflicts. This work has involved mediation and reconciliation between different ethnic groups. Programmes have sought to work at the grassroots of society in Burundi, and have therefore involved a variety of different groups, such as women, young people and ex-combatants. Media has been a central tool for their work, and their Radio Ijambo station has produced high-quality programming on reconciliation topics.
