Hedvig Alexander is the founder of Far & Wide Collective (previously Jali Designs) an online marketplace that connects talented artisans in emerging economies with international buyers. Prior to this she spent seven years in Afghanistan, initially working for ISAF and UNDP and later setting up Building Markets in Afghanistan – an organization promoting the local procurement of goods and services to boost local business. Subsequently she was the Managing Director of Turquoise Mountain - an organization dedicated to the revival of art, crafts and architecture in Afghanistan. Hedvig received her B.A. from Copenhagen Business School in philosophy and economics and her M.A. in international relations from Yale University in the United States.
