Jamal is Somalia Programme Advisor for Peace Direct. He has vast experience in peacebuilding and state building initiatives in the Horn of Africa. Jamal previously worked on human rights protection and community development projects with British Red Cross, Human Rights Watch and Puntland’s Commission for Human Rights Defenders. He holds a first degree in Business Studies and a postgraduate degree in Law, and is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Politics and International Studies (PIAS) at Warwick University.
