We regularly publish articles, case studies, context updates and comments from local peacebuilding experts around the world.

Many of our articles are written by a group of regular contributors and correspondents from around the world, as well as other contributing writers. All of our writers have experience of local peacebuilding through their own work, projects, or networks. Many have a background in writing or are trained journalists.

If you are a local peacebuilder, or a journalist with strong connections to local peacebuilding in your area, please send us a pitch for content to be considered for publication on Peace Insight.

When writing your pitch, remember that Peace Insight is focused on the power of local peacebuilding. So, although your pitch may explore a conflict in a particular region, for example, it should focus on highlighting relevant local peacebuilding efforts by non-governmental organisations or individuals. Highlight the approach and impact of the peacebuilding work, and consider what lessons it offers others. The readers of Peace Insight should be able to learn about innovative peacebuilding methods or learn something about the particular challenges facing peacebuilders in the region.

What do we publish?

  • Stories of local peacebuilding in action around the world. These demonstrate the impact of locally led peacebuilding efforts, highlight challenges faced by local peacebuilders, and showcase different context-adapted approaches to conflict transformation. These are 850 words long. We pay £255 per article. These make up the majority of our content, and pitches for this format are more likely to be accepted than pitches for less frequent formats listed below.
  • Feature articles exploring key themes connected to local peacebuilding. These deep-dive enable local peacebuilders to share their expertise beyond specific projects. They might cover themes like decolonisation, neutrality, different approaches to traditional work, or key lessons from peacebuilding efforts across a region. These are 1200 or 1500 words long, and we pay £360 or £450. We only publish a few per year.
  • Context analysis articles which provide brief local expert updates on significant context changes and the implications for or response of local peacebuilders. 500 words, £150 fee. We publish up to six per year, depending on need.
  • Opinion columns amplifying local peacebuilders’ perspectives on global issues, including calls to action for other peacebuilders or international powerholders. 850 words, £255. We only publish a few per year.
  • Videos or photo essays. We occasionally publish photo essays or videos on the topics outlined above. The rates for these would be agreed on a case-by-case basis.

We currently have an extensive pipeline of stories from DRC, so are only accepting pitches for conflict analysis/updates (500 words) as of April 2025.

Pitches on all other contexts are encouraged, but we are particularly keen to see more content covering Sudan, Afghanistan, Mali, Myanmar and Palestine.
