The Kitgum Women Peace Initiative (KIWEPI) is a women-oriented organisation established in 2000 by the women of Kitgum to foster a peaceful and informed society that is engaged in sustainable development.
KIWEPI promotes peacebuilding and conflict resolution; economic empowerment and building livelihoods; and the elimination of sexual and gender-based violence.
It advocates for the implementation of UN Resolutions 1325, 1820 and the Goma Declaration; promotes reconciliation and recovery processes among the war-affected Acholi community; and works to ensure women’s involvement in peacebuilding conflict resolution.
