The Escuela de la Comedia y el Mimo (School of Comedy and Mime) is a social art project that started in Granada in 2001. Its main focus is on children and young people from poor and neighbouring communities who are exposed to social dangers such as child exploitation, family and sexual domestic violence, gangs and other problems. It aims to provide them with alternative educational experiences to help improve their education and development.

For 10 months, the project runs theater various circus skills, art, dance, recycled materials and other workshops, while promoting reading, learning new languages, computer skills and other education for participants.

The project's main building is constructed from recycled plastic bottles and other materials. It has a library, computer and sleeping facilities, and its overall design is environmentally friendly, conceived as an example of alternative development.

During the first full moon of the year in January, the Berrinche Ambiental occurs, with a focus on how to protect the environment. More than 150 professional and amateur artists from around the world attend, exchanging community work, hosting workshops for youth and performing on the streets.
