Community Advocate For Sustainable Development  (CAFSUD) works for peaceful coexistence, stability, development and sustainability in Nigerian communities. The mission of the organisation is to promote and sustain 'people oriented' development programmes and projects in communities, especially in the area of health, gender mainstreaming and peacebuilding into policy framework.

CAFSUD undertakes focused advocacy directed at policy-makers to ensure the sustainability of projects and programmes by Government and communities. They work as peacebuilders, supported by the Nigeria Security and Reconciliation Programme and the British Council, to counter violence and extremism in Nigeria through non-violent means.

Main projects and achievements

  • Reached over 10 districts in Borno State, 4 district in Kaduna State
  • Reached out to over 3,000 people through workshops, town hall meetings, and community dramas.
  • Successfully organised interfaith dialogues between Christian and Muslims youth in 5 communities in the Borno north zone.
  • Training of over 200 young people in peacebuilding, conflict analysis, and mediation.
  •  Reduction in the number of youths doing drugs.

CAFSUD's current international partners are the British Council and the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism, while its domestic partners are the Nigeria Security Reconciliation Programme and the Office of the National Security Adviser.
