Catholic Justice & Peace Commission (CJPC) works for development based on the principles of justice, freedom, fairness and truth, especially for those with unique needs in the communities, in Kenya. CJPC aims to engage people in dialogues, infrastructure for peace projects, civic education, and monitoring and evaluation. Through the organisation's many communications channels they are introducing constitutional issues and organising meetings at village level for consensus building and conflict resolution.

Current programme activities:

  • "People-to-People" project which seeks to encourage people appreciate diversity and leave in harmony.
  • Community dialogue for peace and development in Timboroa, Kasoya/Kimumu and Huruma. Leaders from different areas and ethnicities are brought together to discuss ways to improve peace in the region.
  • Civic education project which involves teaching communities about the constitution.
  • CJPC has a network called COPEN which is a coalition for peace in North Rift with a membership of 30 local civil society organizations.
