The vision of the Collectif des artisans de paix et la reconciliation (Collective of Peace and Reconciliation Builders, CAPR) is to promote education for peace and nonviolent conflict resolution in order to build the social fabric in Rwanda and develop a stable, peaceful society with social justice and sustainable development.

Main objectives

CAPR works towards ending any form of social, economic, legal or political discrimination, to inspire a vision of a culture of peace, tolerance, social justice, respect for human rights and non-violence. It works in particular to:

  • Promote peaceful coexistence between people and groups in Rwandan society;
  • Strengthen pro-peace gospel through training, public lectures, songs, theatres and cinemas;
  • Promote peace education and nonviolent conflict resolution;
  • Develop social actions for to ensure sustainable human development; and gender equality.

Main activities and achievements

Since its creation, the organisation has performed the following activities: trainings in conflict resolution; study tours, retreats for peaceworkers; conferences; solidarity activities (construction of houses for vulnerable social open, help each other); Income-generating activities (Livestock, farming,  organising Savings and loans Groups).

The organisation has contributed to fighting against poverty through the income-generating activities, and helped its beneficiaries manage land related conflicts.
