Child Rights Defenders’ League Public Foundation (CRDLPF)

Child Rights Defenders’ League Public Foundation was created and registered in 2008 to promote legal protection and justice for children, encouraging of improvement the children’s rights, training and human rights education. In 2011 was launched a hotline service to victims of discrimination, violence and violations of children's rights. The service is funded by UNICEF.

Main Activities

The implementation and development of human rights and peace education.
Monitoring children's rights in enclosed and public institutions such as: schools, children's homes, psychiatric hospitals, and community schools.
Encouraging the development of juvenile justice in Kyrgyzstan.
Capacity building of NGOs working to protect children’s rights and freedom.
Mobilising civil society to support the rights of children.
Creating assistance for the Ombudsman for Children's Rights in Kyrgyzstan.
Strengthening civil control over the effective implementation of the mechanisms in the Kyrgyz Republic, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Lobbying at the legislative level for a better implementation of the rights of children.

Projects

Countering Discrimination Against Women and Children and of Their Rights Promotion by Changing the Socio-Economic Policy in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan (2011-2014).

This project, which is financed by the Netherlands Helsinki Committee has stimulated the governments of thee countries to follow up on their commitment to women and child rights in their policies and practices. The project was aimed to enhance the capacity of local civil society organisations to engage effectively in the national development processes. To achieve its goal, in framework of this project was information gathering on social and economic rights, trainings on women and child rights-based policy planning, workshops on monitoring, reporting and advocacy to organizing conferences for the involvement of a broad range of actors and stakeholders.

From 2012 to 2014 onwards, the Child Rights Defenders’ League Public Foundation, with help from their local partners in other countries, monitored and analyzed social and economic policies and practices for women and children in their countries on the basis of human rights norms, standards and principles. These materials are used for policy-influencing endeavours and ensure that the project has a lasting effect.

Strengthening the mediators’ role in Kyrgyzstan

This project was implemented in 2011 funded by OSCE Centre in Bishkek. In the framework of this project a few group of activists from the 5 areas having the most elevated levels of social tension were trained. The participants got knowledge how interact with the local authorities and law enforcement agencies during the conflict and post-conflict period.

Legal awareness tolerance among teenagers during political instability in Kyrgyzstan, (2010)

Funded USAID, this project aimed to improve understanding of legal awareness and tolerance through sports events in Bishkek and Sokuluk area, Chui region. All participants were awarded prizes and certificates by the Child Rights Defenders’ League Public Foundation.

Conflict prevention in local communities by mediators teams project (2010)

Funded by Soros Foundation Kyrgyzstan, this project has formed a group of local activists mediators of 500 people who were trained on conflict prevention and resolution of tension. Also public awareness campaign with the promotion of the preservation of peace, harmony and stability was conducted.
