Cultural-Humanitarian Fund 'Sukhumi' works to empower women to take on an active role in building a democratic society in Georgia and in the peaceful resolution of conflicts through educational, economic, social and cultural activities. It is an IDP women's non-governmental organisation which was founded in Kutaisi, Georgia, in October 1997.

Activities

As part of its recent work, the organisation has conducted the following projects:

  • 2017-2018: Strengthening women’s voices in decision-making, supported by Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland FDFA
  • 2017-2018: Learning from Visegrad 4 experience to advocate for equal, inclusive and democratic local governance, supported by of the Visegrad Fund
  • 2017-2018: Involvement of NGOs working on issues of social protection, in the strategic dialogue in Georgia, supported by the Czech organization PIN - People in Need
  • 2017: Overcoming the consequences of war together, supported by DRA – Deutsch-Russischer Austausch
  • 2016-2017: Active involvement of women in political life of Georgia through democratization of election processes, supported by S. Embassy, Georgia
  • 2016-2017: Women identify the level of human security to build confidence and sustainable peace, supported by Kvinna till Kvinna
  • 2014-2017: “Strengthening of women’s rights in Western Georgia”, supported by Brotfür die Welt – Evangelischer Entwicklunsdienst (Germany)
  • 2015-2016: Gender Advisory Council - improved outlook, strengthening women's rights and good governance in the region, supported by S. State Department
  • 2014-2015: “Change of the policy of local government regarding gender budgeting”, supported by Czech non-governmental organization «The independent socio-environmental movement»
  • 2012-2015: Gender Advisory Councils – increasing women’s role in social changes of regions, supported by UN Women Fund for Gender Equality

The important component of the organisation’s work is networking and permanent exchange meetings with partner organisations in Caucasus and at the international level.
