The Foundation for Development in the Sahel (FDS) is a Malian organisation created in 1992. Its objective is to improve the living conditions of the population by promoting activities involving their participation taking into account local, regional and national programs of development.

Mission

The FDS's mission is to contribute to the socio-economic development of populations in intervention zones through:

  • Education and training
  • Environmental protection
  • Microfinance
  • Health
  • Support for the decentralisation process
  • Support for good governance
  • Budget analysis and advocacy

The FDS's vision is to become a reference NGO through professionalism in the quality of its interventions for sustainable development in Mali. The projects that FDS implements in the framework of peacebuilding have contributed to responsible, participative and non-violent exploitation of mineral resources as well as the non-violent managements of conflicts.
