Fundemospaz works on human security in El Salvador, supporting and developing people's ability to protect themselves from threats.

Fundación para la Democracia, Seguridad y Paz (Foundation for Democracy, Security and Peace, Fundemospaz) is a Salvadoran NGO which has worked since 2007 on human security, supporting and developing people's ability to protect themselves from threats. Registered in 2009, its mission is to help build a safer, more sustainable society through participative development work.

Achievements

  • Establishing the Centro de la Sociedad Civil para el Monitoreo y Evaluación de la Violencia (Civil Society Centre for Monitoring and Evaluating Violence). The center works to promote and exercise social responsibility, transparency and accountability in the justice and public security sector, in the wake of the increasing national and regional violence affecting El Salvador. It aims to improve governance, democracy and social peace.
  • Strengthening municipal capacities in violence prevention. This work aims to strengthen the policies, spaces for citizen participation and information systems on violence and its prevention in the municipalities of Apopa, Mejicanos, Aguilares, Nejapa, San Marcos, La Unión, and San Miguel.
  • Strengthening spaces for citizenship participation in violence prevention. The purpose of this work is to strengthen policies, spaces for citizen participation, decision-making and information systems on violence and its prevention in the municipalities of San Martín, Ahuachapán, Ilopango, Tonacatepeque, Zaragoza and Residencial Alta Vista.
