Justice Plus was established in November 1996, and has been involved since its creation in the promotion of human rights and the development of a culture of peace through the fight against impunity for crimes, tolerance and non-violence in Ituri, DR Congo.
Justice Plus is made up of practicing jurists (lawyers, judicial defenders and magistrates) and persons trained as paralegals, law students and many other people who are interested in justice and committed to peace (economists, sociologists, teachers, etc.).
The organization is affiliated to PAX CHRISTI International, a Catholic peace movement based in all five continents and Justice Plus is currently a member of the Ituri network of human rights associations (RADHIT) and several other human rights protection components including the prevention and protection working group led by UNHCR, the multisectoral assistance working group led by UNICEF and the data and mapping working group led by UNFPA. And many other groupings of actors involved in human rights protection and emergencies.
Justice-plus maintains relations with other international human rights organisations, namely Humann Right Watch, Amnesty International, Humann Right Fields office in Congo (HRFOC), Front Lines, REDRESS, PAX, CORDAID, etc. It is a member of several national networks including the Congolese Coalition for Transitional Justice.
