The KANEWA Advancement Forum is a Nigerian organisation operating in the North West Region. Its projects are focused on: conflict management and conflict resolution; early warning and early response; the creation of inter-religious women groups across the region; and promoting the role of women in peacebuilding initiatives and women empowerment.

By 2015, KANEWA wants women within the region to fully participate in decision making processes and in peacebuilding talks and initiatives.

Major achievements

• From 2000 to 2005, KANEWA worked with inter-religious crisis groups to reconcile two conflicting groups across Kaduna State.
• KANEWA worked to build peace in north-western Nigeria with a regional NGO, West Africa Network For Peacebuilding (WANEP), which is based in Accra, Ghana and has its head office in Lagos. They carried out research on humanitarian hazards and the impact of conflict in the region.
• Currently KANEWA is coordinating the Kaduna Women Economic Advancement Forum (KAWEAF). This is a coalition of womens' business organisations advocating for improving women's access to finance. KANEWA believes that to build peace people need to be empowered. For this reason it is helping women to develop their own businesses, and it integrates peace initiatives with business development projects. as of May 2015 the group has been able to access loans from the Bank of Agriculture, and have close to 2,000 members.
