Based in Lahore, Lahore Center for Peace Research (LCPR) is a research organization focusing on peace research. It offers a unique platform for researchers, think tanks, policy makers and the civil society from around the world to share information and work in close cooperation. The Center also hosts guest researchers and interns who work on issues related to LCPR’s mission and objectives.
LCPR maintains contacts with other research centres and individuals across the globe and at national level mediates between academia, and policy makers. LCPR regularly invites ambassadors, policy makers, parliamentarians, academic experts and government representatives and researchers for round table talks, and conversations. At international level it engages with international think tanks and experts through seminars and conferences.
LCPR’s research agenda is to generate positive and high value research on issues relevant to foreign and security policies for dissemination to policymakers and scholars. It has affiliations with the Shahid Javed Burki Institute of Public Policy, Pakistan; Pakistan Administrative Service Alumni Research Center; and Turkey’s South Asia Strategic Research Center.
With an overall focus on peace and conflict resolution, the organization focuses on the following key themes: environment, governance, economy, counter terrorism, and foreign policy. The Center is very active in terms of events and dialogues and in 2019 alone organized some prominent events, such as Afghan peace conference (the Lahore Process) on 22 June 2019; and 2nd International Conference on Global Peace, 27 August 2019.
