The mission of the Organisation des Jeunes Leaders pour le Developpement (OJLD, Organisation of Young Leaders for Development) is to use art, music and drama to help build peace and reconciliation opportunities in the Central African Republic. Through these peace and social cohesion-building activities, OJLD aims to work first in Bangui and then throughout the other regions of the country. As in other countries which have been through similar experiences, artists have a role to play. Some of OJLD's projects include:

  • A series of street concerts, grouping more than 785 artists, actors, musicians and singers together in Bangui and around the country. Almost two million people will have had the opportunity to take part by the end of 2014.
  • A peace and reconciliation programme launched in March 2014, with the aid of another NGO.
  • Exchange and recovery visits at refugee camps, with the aid of the French and African Union-led military missions.
