Coexistence

The organisation's Peace Event Program (PEP) aims to improve the relationships between communities of former Maoist combatants and their surrounding communities through the various peace related activities. Activities include peace folk song competitions, peace candle lighting and peace art competitions. The program was organized in seven major divisions of Maoist combatants. The program there was large participation of community people and PLAs that incurred minimal cost.

Moreover, PEP activities were focused to promote ongoing peace process of Nepal. Through which, it had been able to provide broader peace message to entire community people for promotion of peace process. The small but effective attempt of GIZ/STPP funded Peace Event Program was able to made real and positive impression on ongoing peace process.

SAHAMATI had the opportunity to participate as a partner organization and successfully accomplished the PEP activities. Based on the past accomplishment, SAHAMATI again acquired chance to facilitate the program this year in Sadhepani and Padampokhari VDCs of Kailali and Makawanpur District respectively. SAHAMATI had responsibilities of regular coordination and communication with ex-combatants and their nearby areas community people, local organization and stakeholders under the program.

Cultural programs

Nepal has a diverse culture. SAHAMATI recognised that many people like to listen to and sing folk songs. Hence the organisation organises cultural programs like folk song competitions  to promote peace.
