UNESCO Chair for the Culture of peace seeks to boost exchanges and the sharing of knowledge between various countries of the world. It also encourages the support of developed countries for sustainable development perspectives in developing countries, as well as promoting education for international solidarity and intercultural dialogue.

The activities of the UNESCO Chair for the Culture of Peace are focused on training, research and the groundwork for peace promotion and sustainable development. The UNESCO Chair organises training courses and in-service training, seminars, symposia and conferences.

The UNESCO Chair was established in the Ivory Coast in 2007, in order to promote:

  • respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms
  • a commitment to the peaceful settlement of disputes
  • sustainable development and respect for the environment
  • equal rights and opportunities for women and men
