The goals of UYMAV are:

  • To provide essential social services to Liberian young people, in a cost effective manner.
  • To strengthen the capacity of youth to participate in creating a violence-free society.
  • To empower women and women's groups empowered to fight violence and social injustice.

Major achievements

  • Conducted Ebola response programmes (awareness and educational messages) with young people in the three most affected Liberian counties (Montserrado, Margibi and Nimba), with specific attention focused on the hearing impaired.
  • Established a community-based youth network against violence and reactivated existing but passive groups in five counties.
  • In partnership with the UN's Liberian Public Information Office, it facilitated ongoing action against mob violence, promoting peace and reconciliation initiatives in five countries.
