WANEP seeks to facilitate the creation of a sustainable culture of non-violence, justice, peace and social recognition in Sierra Leone.
Last updated: November 2017

West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP) is a network of civil society peacebuilding organisations with a presence in the 15 countries of ECOWAS. It was launched in 1988 in response to the civil wars, instabilities and humanitarian crisis that plagued the region during that time.

In Sierra Leone, WANEP seeks to facilitate the creation of a sustainable culture of non-violence, justice, peace and social recognition. It does this by ensuring coordination among all social actors and peacebuilding practitioners in order to avoid duplication of efforts and maximise resources for more effective responses to conflict situations.

Activities include

  • Early Warning and Response Systems
  • Women in Peacebuilding
  • Youth and Peace Education
  • Civil Society Coordination
  • Democratic Governance.
